Beaches that blow away the cobwebs

Our beaches can be a real head-turner, and we love it! When the weather gets going, the waves are spectacular, and the beach is bursting with raw energy.

Into the water!

Surfing, windsurfing, foiling, aquajogging –  there are so many ways to enjoy the water here.

  • For surfing, you’ll find perfect spots in Audierne Bay (La Torche, Tronoën, Penhors) and in season, surf schools offer equipment hire and supervision.
  • For windsurfing and foiling, there are the sailing centres on the south coast: Sainte-Marine, Île-Tudy, Lesconil, Loctudy, Le Guilvinec and Penmarc’h.
  • You can go aquajogging on your own or with an instructor on all the beaches in the Bigouden region.

A stroll by the sea

Whatever the weather, a walk on the beach is the best way to recharge your batteries.

  • You can opt for the stretches of sand in Audierne Bay, which are perfect for getting caught up in the limitless horizon: Ru Vein beach in Plovan, Penhors beach in Pouldreuzic, Kermabec beach in Tréguennec, Tronoën beach in Saint-Jean-Trolimon or La Torche beach in Plomeur.

Sport on the beach

There’s no shortage of ideas for enjoying the seaside while taking part in a sporting activity on the beach.

  • There’s a volleyball court on the small Plage des 4 Vents in Lesconil, ideally situated next to the harbour.
  • Several yoga teachers organise yoga sessions on the beach during the summer. Check the calendar for dates.
  • You can also take a supervised horse ride near the beach.
  • For thrill-seekers, go sand yachting. The long beaches of Audierne  Bay are the ideal playground.

The beach is not only a place for relaxing, and there’s plenty for sports enthusiasts to do without putting a toe in the water…

Storm warning

We don’t always think about going out on the beach on stormy days. And yet, the spectacle is intense and captivating. You won’t regret putting on your waterproofs! After this immersive, 100% Breton experience, enjoy a well-deserved cup of hot chocolate…

If you wish to attend the show, please remain cautious and take into account a few rules for your safety:

  • Keep a good distance from the shore as the sea may surprise you.
  • If you are on a signposted path, respect the footpaths
  • In the event of strong gales, certain areas may be closed to the public for your safety. Do not climb over fences.
