Biking and Hiking on the GR®34 or the V45 coastal path

Whether you’re walking the famous GR®34 coastal path or exploring the coast by bike on the V45 coastal path, here you’ll find a complete guide to transport, restaurants, accommodation and shops accessible along your route at every stage.

The distance between Pors Poulhan and Sainte-Marine is 107.5 km, or around 26 hours’ walking*.

*The walking time indicated on the signposts along the trail is based on a pace of 4km/h. The establishments listed are all less than a 2-km walk from the GR® 34 coastal path.

Map of the two routes

The GR®34 coastal path is also known as the sentier des douaniers, as it was the path patrolled by Customs Officers long ago. It runs for over 2,000 kilometres along the coast of Brittany and is only open to walkers.

V45La Littorale’ (the coast) is a bike trails that follows the beaches and bays of Brittany. This route is designed for cyclists.

Transport by bus

There are no bus routes running directly along the coast. The main stations are in Pont-l’Abbé and Quimper.

From Quimper – bus station and SNCF train station – there is a direct high-speed train link to Paris several times a day (approx. 3 hours 45 minutes), all year round.

Over the water with the P'tit bac

Climb aboard the P’tit Bacfoot-passenger ferry for pedestrians and cyclists to cross from one bank to the other:

  • cross the Odet river from Sainte-Marine to Bénodet
  • cross the Pont-l’Abbé river from Loctudy to Île-Tudy.

The crossing is short and takes just 5 minutes.

This very practical form of sea transport allows you to continue your walk along the GR® 34 or cycle along cycle route 45.

Le P’tit Bac sails every day from April to September.
