The Akva sauvetage côtier association was set up in May 2015 by former lifeguards looking to develop a new activity in the Bigouden region.
Its aim is to design, organise and run training courses in aquatic activities and first aid, as well as organising courses in coastal lifesaving and PSA. The association also offers swimming lessons for beginners in Plovan.
This sport covers a number of specialities, whether in the water or on the beach, in a swimming pool or at sea. It can be practised by anyone, at any age.
Those who take up this sport will become autonomous and responsible in an aquatic environment: they'll be able to swim, save themselves and others.
Several disciplines are covered:
-swimming
-paddle boarding
-beach flag (for the sporting part)
-learning first aid techniques
-Understanding your environment (weather, currents, waves, etc.).
As the course progresses, the learner will be able to move around in a variety of conditions.
The long-term aim is to be able to practice on any type of water (calm, windy, with waves, etc.).
Lifesaving sport is an activity that combines individual qualities (physical ability and knowledge of the ocean) with the collective values of solidarity and cohesion that are essential to ensure everyone's safety.
