Located in the commune of Saint-Jean-Trolimon, the Tronoën blockhouse was built in 1942 using materials from the pebble crusher at Tréguennec (a Second World War military structure). This blockhouse was part of the "Atlantic Wall", a defensive wall built by the German armies to protect the French west coast during the Second World War. In the past, the bunker was set back from the shore, but today it stands in the middle of the foreshore and is covered by the tides. This bunker is a tribute to the thousands of men and women who have helped and continue to help sailors in difficulty. This can be seen in the mosaics representing the "apotropaic" eyes created by Pierre Chanteau, which were traditionally painted on boats in ancient times to bring good luck to the crews. Finally, take some lovely photos of the blockhouse in the evening and enjoy the sunset just in front of you.
