The Redadeg is a non-competitive, festive and popular relay race open to all. Families, young and old, children, parents and grandparents run together. The challenge is to carry a message in Breton across Brittany, without stopping, and the big winner is the Breton language.
The event mobilises thousands of people across the five departments of Brittany and generates infectious enthusiasm.

The kilometres are sold to individuals, local authorities, companies, associations... in other words, to any private or legal entity wishing to contribute to the event and show its support for the Breton language. Profits are redistributed to projects that promote the use of the language in everyday social and family life.

The immediate success of the event has been confirmed over the years, generating steady and significant growth in both the distance covered and the amount of money raised.

RUNNING SCHEDULE

At each kilometre, one person takes the baton and wears the numbered shirt for that kilometre. This person carries the baton, which contains a message in Breton. This message and its author, kept secret until the finish, is read out on stage in front of the public and launches the party.

Beyond the purchase of the kilometre which gives the right to carry the baton, participation is totally open and free. Anyone can follow the baton-bearer, to accompany and support him or her, for the fun of it and, above all, to support the Breton language.

Organised by Redadeg.
