Getting there

A calm and relaxing stay in the countryside

It’s a great place to base your holiday. In a quiet, wooded setting, you can easily explore the surrounding area and discover the riches of the Bigouden region, Cap Sizun, Quimper and Douarnenez .

The Goyen river runs through the town, adding to its charm. You can discover the town on long, beautiful nature walks along forest paths.

There are two circular walks along the slopes of the Goyen valley, through wild wooded moorland. Peace and quiet are guaranteed on these peaceful routes.

Finally, don’t forget that the sea is just around the corner: Kerrest beach (Plozévet) is 15 minutes away by car and Penhors beach (Pouldreuzic) is 20 minutes away.

The must-haves

The Saint-Nicolas fountain was originally dedicated to Saint Justin, but was renamed after the statue of Saint Nicolas when the chapel dedicated to him fell into ruin and was demolished.

The water from the fountain was once reputed to cure whooping cough. The large adjoining wash-house was used until the 20th century.

The Goyen is a river that rises in Plonéis, crosses the Haut Pays Bigouden and Cap Sizun before flowing between Audierne and Plouhinec further west.

In Guiler-sur-Goyen, the presence of the river adds to the town’s charm. Old stone bridges span the river in places.

Saint-Justin church is in the neo-flamboyant style and opens its doors to the public for religious ceremonies.

The building, which appears to date from before the 16th century, was rebuilt at the end of the 19th century.
