Tréméoc

Located inland, a few kilometres north of Pont-l’Abbé, Tréméoc is a paradise for fishermen and sports enthusiasts. Its heritage is full of surprises!

Getting there

In the heart of nature

Tréméoc is an unassuming village with an endless choice of outdoor activities.

The circuit around theMoulin Neuf pond is a real journey inland, on foot or by bike. Here you can admire the birds on the pond and enjoy the peace and quiet. This 65-hectare drinking water reservoir is also a popular spot for anglers (fishing licence required).

Tréméoc is also home to the ” voie verte”, a former railway line between Pont-l’Abbé and Pluguffan (a few kilometres from Quimper) reserved for cyclists and pedestrians. In spring or summer, the path is particularly pleasant under the canopy of trees that provide shade for walkers.

Last but not least, Tréméoc’s typical heritage will delight local history buffs (church, chapel, fountain, wash-house and bread oven).

The must-haves

The Moulin Neuf pond is a fisherman’s paradise. Classed as a second category fish pond, its depths range from 0.5 to 3 metres. The deepest area is close to the dam.

Several species of fish are present in the pond: carnivorous fish (pike, perch), eels and white fish (roach, rotengles, bream, tench). Carp fishing is permitted at night, but a fishing licence is required (on sale at our tourist offices).

It’s also a great place to take a stroll, as the path is reserved for bikes and pedestrians!

This greenway is a hiking trail on a former railway line. The last train passed here on 20 June 1963.

Running from Pluguffan to Pont-l’Abbé via Tréméoc, it is 12 km long. Its stabilised surface makes it ideal for running, walking and cycling.

Its shady route, popular in hot weather, will take you all the way to Pont-l’Abbé and its river.

This 16th-century chapel nestled in the countryside is dedicated to Saint Sebastian, a saint who healed wounds caused by injuries. A fragment of 16thᵉ century stained glass can be seen in the chevet window.

The rectangular building opens to the west through a basket-handle door. The buttresses surmounted by pinnacles and escutcheons form part of the fenestration mullions. The chapel also has a calvary and a pietà carved in stone. The calvary dates from the 16th century and is carved in granite.

It dates from the 17th century, but has retained four pillars from the previous building produced by the Pont-Croix school, formed by eight tangent columns dating from the end of the 14th century, with their fluted semi-circular arches resting on capitals decorated with foliage.

The nave arcades are round-headed. Some of the polychrome sablières have survived. The bell tower with its short spire has been rebuilt.
