Maison de la Baie d'Audierne A place to talk about nature

Audierne Bay has the largest dune system in Finistère, and is a fragile and protected natural area that you can discover. Shaped by the wind and the sea, it is home to exceptional fauna, flora and landscapes. The visitor centre ‘Maison de la Baie d’Audierne’ is a place to discover this heritage, offering exhibitions, videos and other activities.

Friends of the Bay Meeting with enthusiasts

They are historians, biologists, naturalists and photographers, and each of them tells us about Audierne Bay, through a medium, a vision, a profession, a knowledge, an experience or a personal inspiration. Together, they form the Friends of Audierne Bay association and they run the Maison de la Baie d’Audierne in Tréguennec.

Through their activities, they offer visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the world of the bay: how the dune and wetlands function, how the precious cordon of pebbles is formed, and how to recognise the different natural habitats and varied species. By showcasing the work of enthusiasts, the centre gives visitors a chance to see nature from every angle.

Photo and art exhibitions, videos, lectures and events are held on a regular basis.

Visiting the Maison de la Baie also means meeting volunteers who love to share their love of the area. A pleasant outdoor area has been laid out with an artistic trail showcasing the site.

An old farmhouse In an exceptional setting

An old farmhouse restored in keeping with the spirit of the place, set on the banks of the Etang de Saint-Vio – what better way to welcome nature lovers!

The Maison de la Baie d’Audierne is just a few metres from the sea, in a peaceful setting that is a favourite with many migratory birds.

Only the Route du Vent Solaire crosses this wild territory, and that’s the route you’ll take to reach your destination!

Nearby is the little chapel of Saint-Vio.

Events and nature outings

The Maison de la Baie d’Audierne is also the venue for nature walks organised by the council of Pays Bigouden Sud, with nature guides Steven and Sterenn.

There are a variety of outings to choose from, including dune walks and bird watching for the European bee-eater and other birds.

There are also nature workshops for all the family. After a short walk around the Maison de la Baie, you can make a musical instrument, a boat or a work of art using natural elements!
