Description

Apparently, seaweed tastes of hope. To demonstrate this, this documentary is going on a sailing tour from the Basque Country to Brittany this summer. A ‘ciné-gourmand’ event to introduce the film and the taste of seaweed, whilst raising public awareness of the links between food, marine biodiversity and climate change. On the programme: a screening of the film, a discussion with the audience and a tasting of seaweed-based products. With co-director Julien Challandes and one of the protagonists, Malaury Morin, in attendance. Malaury Morin has been bringing people together through flavour from La Rochelle with Blutopia. Laurianne Birre is inspiring wonder through art in Biarritz. Mélanie Cueff is making scientific research accessible from Roscoff with the Global Seaweed Coalition. These three bon vivants are each trying, in their own way, to bring seaweed back into fashion. Through their stories, you’ll discover these extraordinary living organisms that could well find a place on our plates, as it seems that seaweed tastes… of hope.
