Description
Françoise Botrel Rey:
“Describing my painting: Colours, lots of colour, portraits… Portraits of people, but also of animals. And too, flashes of light through stained-glass windows, reflections on the water. What is the common thread linking such diverse canvases?
There is no initial thought on my part. It is a force that drives me in this direction and, in a way, the canvas eludes my understanding. The driving force behind my motivation is the thousand and one channels through which Life expresses itself, the mystery of Life. One can see in them the presence of the Divine, and also destinies that lie beyond our control.
That is what I seek, or rather what drives me when I am at my easel. So yes, there are plenty of colours on my canvases!
2009: School of Fine Arts, practising various disciplines
2011: Painting studio in Paris. In this studio, we had lessons once a month with a copyist from the Louvre.
It was a revelation; I learnt a great deal and practised portraiture, my favourite subject."
