Description
Rising tide , paintings by Brigitte Cohen
_______________
Brigitte comes to us from Douarnenez, and the bay (the most beautiful in the world, as some say...) inspires her...
she tells us all about it:
Rising Tide
What I love about painting is the colour, the harmony of colours, putting an ephemeral emotion down on paper, sharing it with the viewer.
an ephemeral emotion on paper, sharing it with all viewers.
Painting can be read in any language!
I love the colours of the seaside, the glaz of the water, the yellows of the sand, the reds, greys and browns of the rocks.
the reds, greys and browns of the rocks and cliffs, the greens of the sea plants...
The light is different every day, and so is the colour of the water.
A few years ago, I set up my easel on the beach. The landscape in front of me
is still the starting point for my painting, but nowadays I make gouache sketches
gouache sketches, accompanied by a few notes, the day, the tide, my
ressenti.... It's the colour sketch that allows me to fix my inspiration, capture the moment
and organise my ideas in a plastic way.
I arrive on the beach at low tide, so I have a little time to make a series of
sketches... I leave again when the water has 'risen', and gets a little too close to my
brushes!
Back in the studio, the paint escapes the sketch...
I love the freedom to interpret nature. I don't try to
faithfully reproduce, but rather to put on paper the trace that this landscape
leaves in me.
