The two artists had already exhibited together last year at the Plozévet Tourist Office on the theme of ‘Maritime Visions’.
Monique has been painting since the age of 14. She works exclusively in oils and makes extensive use of bright colours. She explores the theme ‘Phenomena’ through paintings that convey a feeling or emotion, drawing inspiration from an event, a film, a book or a news story. The paintings depict landscapes, characters and supernatural, fantastical atmospheres. Monique is quick to point out that she works slowly to achieve the desired result.
Patrick Guéllec, for his part, uses watercolour techniques alongside acrylic paint, and each of his canvases is also an invitation to experience a sense of feeling. He explores the theme of “Phenomena” through a series of paintings evoking the transformation of vegetation or the chaos of nature. Each painting, however, maintains a balance of forms and colours.
