Description
On Thursday 14 August, Loctudy will be celebrating its maritime identity with the brand new Fête Maritime de Loctudy. Organised by FAR, this event is the successor to the traditional Fête Nautique, with a renewed ambition: to showcase the maritime professions, those involved in maritime rescue and the know-how that shapes the identity of Loctudy, an emblematic fishing port on the Breton coast.
Another new feature of this year's event is that the festivities will take place on the Quai Rémy Le Lay, in the very heart of the fishing port. An ideal setting for immersing visitors in the maritime world that shapes the history and economy of Loctudy.
Immerse yourself in the maritime world
From early afternoon onwards, young and old alike will be able to take advantage of a wide range of activities and discoveries relating to seafaring occupations.
SNSM in the spotlight
A key partner in local maritime life, the SNSM will be in the spotlight with the exceptional presence of a flotilla of six launches from Loctudy and neighbouring stations.
The public will be able to visit the boats, see the rescue equipment used during operations, talk to the volunteer rescuers and watch various demonstrations. Depending on the weather conditions, sea outings may also be offered.
Meet the professionals of the sea
In partnership with the Interprofessionnelle de Loctudy, this day will provide an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the diversity of the trades that bring the port to life on a daily basis.
Trollers, gillnetters, dredgers, caseyeurs, trawlers, mareyeurs, mussel farmers and seaweed growers will be sharing their passion and know-how with the public. Visits to fishing boats and the Viviers de Loctudy will complete this immersion in the heart of the local maritime industry.
Fun and entertainment for all the family
Craftsmen, exhibitions, demonstrations, fun events and activities for children will punctuate this day of discovery and sharing.
A festive atmosphere of maritime traditions and world music
Music will accompany visitors throughout the day. The Brazilian percussionists of BATUKALOC will be bringing their lively rhythms and infectious energy before giving way to the GODILLEURS.
With their sea chanteys, traditional instruments and repertoire inspired by our maritime heritage, they'll be bringing back the warm atmosphere of the harbour festivals of yesteryear.
A great musical evening in the heart of the port
From 7.30pm, the Fête Maritime will take on a new dimension with an eclectic programme of top-quality music.
The group MZH PROJECT will take the audience on a musical journey through the decades, revisiting with talent the great hits that have marked several generations.
Then comes one of the highlights of this year's festival with a concert by GWENNYN.
A key figure on the contemporary Breton scene, GWENNYN has established herself over the years as one of the leading voices in Celtic music today. Driven by a strong, authentic artistic identity, she elegantly blends Breton tradition and modernity in powerful, inspired compositions. Accompanied by her musicians, GWENNYN will be putting on a show rich in emotion, combining energy, poetry and a deep attachment to Breton culture. An artist renowned far beyond Brittany, her live performances are winning over an ever-growing audience.
A spectacular finale
To round off this day of festivities, a huge fireworks display will be fired from the sea. Brought to you by the communes of Loctudy and Île-Tudy, this pyrotechnic spectacle will light up the bay and bring this celebration of the local maritime heritage to a beautiful close.
