Description
A regular fixture at every edition of the Heritage & Matrimoine Days, Lucile Chever, a member of the Dame du Picot association, will be sharing her expertise.
Discover Bigouden picot, the lace that is emblematic of our region.
This craft developed in the early 20th century, during the sardine shortage of 1902–1907, enabling families to find alternative sources of income to fishing. It subsequently flourished and enjoyed considerable success thanks to the delicacy of its patterns, achieved through the use of very fine threads worked using the cordon technique.
Today, this craft is practised by enthusiasts committed to keeping alive this technique, which forms part of Brittany’s intangible cultural heritage.
