Description
At 10.30am, High Mass followed by the procession to the fountain.
The Pardon de la Clarté takes place every year on the second Sunday in September at the chapel of Notre-Dame de la Clarté. It takes place on the same day as the Pardon de Kerdévot, in Ergué-Gabéric, and, in the past, the Pardon de Notre-Dame d'Izel-Vor, in La Forêt-Fouesnant, which has now been moved to 15 August. These three Pardons were called "Pardon an Teir Vari" (The Pilgrimage of the Three Marys).
Many pilgrims made a point of visiting all three shrines on the same day, attending morning service at one, High Mass at another and Vespers at the third. Pilgrims came and still come from far and wide. The fountain and the prayers of the Pardon de la Clarté are very famous. After the procession, it is not uncommon to see the faithful dip a small handkerchief in the fountain and moisten their eyes with the water. Around the 18th century, devotion and pilgrimages to Notre-Dame de la Clarté replaced those formerly reserved for Saint-Vennec in this place.
