Description
The Bagad and the Cercle Celtique de Combrit present *Relevailles*, an original street theatre production.
Follow a young mother on her first outing, forty days after giving birth. Veiled from view, she makes her way to the church – a ritual that was once essential before she could unveil herself once more and celebrate the arrival of her newborn with the whole village.
Her journey, from Sainte-Marine to Combrit, invites the audience to discover the richness and duality of this village, ‘from the sea to the woods’. As the film unfolds, it reveals the daily routines and rituals of the seaweed gatherers of Saint-Morane, their interactions with the women farmers of Combrit, and the strength of the bonds that united this rural community.
Through this religious practice – now little known but widely observed by women until the 1960s – *Relevailles* tells the story of much more than a simple return to public life. It is an immersion in everyday life at the start of the 20th century, amidst traditions, solidarity and the passing on of knowledge.
