Description
July 1926 in Lesconil. The female factory workers went on strike, chanting “Pemp real a vo” – “We’ll have five réaux!”
At Mathilde’s, things are buzzing. Nana, Mathilde, Katell and Marjannick are embroidering banners, singing, bantering and organising demonstrations across the Bigouden region.
Here, the trade unionist Charles Tillon, the parish priest, the factory manager and the postman cross paths with the women of Bigouden in memorable and delightful verbal sparring matches. Against a backdrop of serious social unrest, the striking sardine workers prove to be brilliant, imaginative, outspoken and funny.
A comedy by Noëlle Cousinié, directed by Céline Poli and performed by the Troupe du Lac.
