Description
On 19 September 2010, on a beach, two demonstrations faced each other. Down below, environmentalists were protesting against the green algae. Up on the dune, farmers are contesting this accusation. Between them lies an invisible boundary. They share the same setting, facing the ocean. They can see one another, sometimes pass each other by, look at one another, and even end up on the wrong side. But they do not speak to one another. *Marées* is a solo performance. An actor attempts to re-enact this event today, not to recreate it faithfully, but to understand what, on that day, could not be said. Drawing on archive footage, interviews and documents, he brings together nineteen voices. Among these voices emerges that of the farm clown. He seeks accuracy. He adjusts, he corrects. He starts again. He tries. The show seeks neither to settle the matter nor to reconcile, but to lay bare a rift. *Marées* is a show about the difficulty of building a society when dialogue is impossible.
