The town of Loctudy alone boasts 4.5 km of fine sandy beaches, most of which face south. The sheltered, gently sloping 550-metre beach is ideal for families and is lifeguard-supervised in July and August. It is conveniently situated opposite the water sports centre, making it the perfect spot for all water sports. It is equipped with toilets, showers, a car park and a nearby playground. Nearest bus stop: Kergall (700m) People with reduced mobility: Tiralo available in July and August during opening hours at the beach lifeguard station. Accompaniment required People with reduced mobility: Tiralo available in July and August during the opening hours of the Langoz lifeguard station, from 1 pm to 7 pm (02 98 87 42 73). An accompanying adult is required. In exceptional cases, upon request, the service is available for the rest of the year by calling the town hall (02 98 87 40 02). Another way to enjoy the beaches and dunes: walk along the coastal path via the GR34, the legendary ‘customs officers’ path’. Recommendations: - The dunes and coastal vegetation are very fragile! Help to preserve them by using only the paths designated for walking. Please do not climb over the wooden fences. - For your safety, the walking trails are for pedestrians only. Cycle routes have been created for cyclists. - No, the beaches aren’t dirty! The seaweed on the shore consists of seaweed, which isn’t rubbish but the natural waste product of a living ocean. It’s a rich environment that promotes biodiversity. - Yes, even in Brittany the sun can cause you a few problems! Protect your skin with high-factor sun cream, avoid exposure between 12 noon and 3 pm, and wear sunglasses! - Shore fishing is a highly recommended activity! But watch out for the tide, which can catch you out, even if you’re an experienced beachcomber! To ensure this special experience remains a pleasure, make sure you check the tide times and don’t set off without your mobile phone! If possible, let someone staying on dry land know about your outing. Also, check with the tourist information office about the minimum catch sizes to be observed and any temporary bans. Your catch must remain alive until it is cooked or eaten. Tiralo is available during the lifeguard station’s opening hours in July and August, from 1 pm to 7 pm Dogs Following a local by-law, dogs are not permitted on the beach from 1 May to 30 September to protect wildlife and for health reasons. Outside this period, they must always be kept on a lead.
