Description

The commune of Penmarc’h alone boasts 4.9 km of beaches. The magnificent 1-km-long family-friendly and sports-oriented beach at Pors Carn is set in a natural environment with breathtaking views of the famous Pointe de la Torche. It’s a great spot for swimming and water sports, including surfing, in a family-friendly atmosphere. Lifeguards are on duty every day from 1 pm to 7 pm between 5 July and 31 August. This beach is equipped with a car park, showers, toilets and a children’s play area, as well as cafés, restaurants and numerous surf schools. Nearest bus stop: Câbles sous-marins (450m) 👩🏽‍🦽‍➡️ People with reduced mobility: 2 reserved parking spaces, a beach mat, and accessible tables and benches. Tiralo and Hippocampe available in July and August, during lifeguard station opening hours, from 1 pm to 7 pm. Booking essential on 02 98 58 53 51. An accompanying adult is required for the Tiralo. Outside July and August: you can call the town hall on 02 98 58 60 19 to arrange use of the Tiralo and Hippocampe. You must collect the equipment and return it after signing a loan agreement. Another way to enjoy the beaches and dunes: walk along the dune ridge via the GR34, the legendary ‘sentier des douaniers’ (customs officers’ path). Recommendations: - The dunes and coastal vegetation are very fragile! Help to preserve them by using only the paths designated for walking. Please do not climb over the wooden fences. - For your safety, the walking trails are for pedestrians only. Cycle routes have been created for cyclists. - No, the beaches aren’t dirty! The seaweed on the shore is not rubbish but the natural waste product of a living ocean. It’s a rich environment that promotes biodiversity. - Yes, even in Brittany the sun can cause you a few problems! Protect your skin with high-factor sun cream, avoid exposure between 12 noon and 3 pm, and wear sunglasses! - Shore fishing is a highly recommended activity! But watch out for the tide, which can catch you out, even if you’re an experienced beachcomber! To ensure this special experience remains a pleasure, make sure you check the tide times and don’t set off without your mobile phone! If possible, let someone staying on dry land know about your outing. Also, check with the tourist office regarding minimum catch sizes and any temporary bans. Your catch must remain alive until it is cooked or eaten. Dogs on the beach Under a local by-law, dogs are permitted on the beaches (on a lead): - From 1 May to 30 September: from 8 pm to 10 am - From 1 October to 30 April: no time restrictions
