Natural and wild

Just a stone’s throw from the coast, Tréogat is a small commune with fewer than 600 inhabitants. It lies in the heart of Audierne Bay, 20 minutes north of the Pointe de la Torche and 25 minutes from Quimper.

Separated by a string of pebbles, the birth of the Trunvel pond marks the boundary with its neighbouring commune, Tréguennec.

On this natural site, protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral, many birds, including some very rare species, come to shelter and feed in the reeds.

On the seafront, picnics with the family or a breath of fresh sea air are a great way to relax and share some exceptional moments.

The must-haves

The Etang de Trunvel is an exceptional natural site wherethe sea, marshes and reed beds meet. A biological reserve protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral, it is renowned for being a breeding and nesting ground for a large number of bird species, some of which are extremely rare: waders, sandpipers, grey-collared plovers, whiskered tits, herons, marsh harriers, etc.

In total, the site is home to more than 100,000 migratory birds and 10,000 pairs of breeding birds every year.

The church of Saint-Boscat and its ensemble are remarkable, one of the few in the Bigouden region to be complete: the church, the enclosure, the cemetery, the calvary and the fountain.

The church, which is open in July and August, dates back to the ^14th and ^15th centuries. It was built in the Pont-Croix school of architecture, a style found in many buildings in the Bigouden region and Cap-Sizun.

It has been listed as a Historic Monument since 2008.

It’s a haven of peace in the heart of nature. The footbridge is reached via a narrow path and overlooks the reed beds, an exceptional wetland where birds nest. Don’t forget your binoculars!

The Languidou valley circuit A walk between ponds and countryside

Don’t miss the ruins of the Languidou chapel, a magical place that is one of the most representative examples of Pont-Croix’s architectural style.

You will then reach the edge of the Kergalan pond, home to many species of birds, some of them very rare. Don’t forget your binoculars!
