Welcome to Bigouden country

Let yourself be inspired by... The soul of the region

The face of the Bigouden region is sculpted by the onslaught of the sea, whipped up by the sea breeze, and looks westwards, watching each day for the return of the fishermen who bring back fish and langoustines in their nets.

This land, with its strong identity, sports the bright colours of tradition: the yellow, red and black velvet of a festive costume. The Bigouden headdress, which has become a regional emblem in its own right, stands out for its height and the finesse of its embroidery.

It’s a land that sings and dances to age-old traditional music, drawing travellers into its circle as they are swept away by the power of the biniou.

The hinterland, less flashy than the Atlantic, also has its share of heritage nuggets engraved, carved and built into the granite.

Finally, the soul of the Bigouden region can be measured by the amount of salted butter, the ingredient that goes into every recipe that claims to be Bigouden.

The diary don't miss a thing!
